Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all choir activities at Our Lady of the Snows were suspended in March of 2020. However, as of Fall 2021, with over 75% of Blaine County vaccinated, the choir is excited and ready to start singing again at our Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass. Please email the parish office at [email protected] if you are interested in sharing your musical gifts and talents with our parish.
In addition, we are pleased to announce the hiring of a new Music Coordinator/Choir Director for Our Lady of the Snows and St. Charles Borromeo parish in Hailey, Ashley Mekeel. Ashley and her husband moved to the area in 2019 and hope to make the Wood River Valley their home for many years to come.
Ashely was born in rural, northern Illlinois. She and her husband, Keith, felt drawn to move to the mountains of Idaho after a cross-country trip in the summer of 2019, and have been living in the Wood River Valley since November of 2019.
Ashely holds a Bachelor's of Music Education and a Masters of Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Iowa. The thing that she enjoys most as a musician is to collaborate with choirs, vocalists and instrumentalists. She currently teaches music at Syringa Mountain School in Hailey, and previously taught K-12 music in Shoshone, as well as piano at several music academies and a community college in Illinois.
